Barry Mukamal was appointed Bankruptcy Trustee to sell an under-performing boutique hotel in Miami Beach. The challenges in maximizing recovery value in the near term, as requested by the lenders, included (i) lack of a flag affiliation; (ii) issues relating to the permissible number of rooms for the hotel’s operation and (iii) the current plight of the capital markets relating to hospitality properties and (iv) under-performance due to capital restrictions during the year prior to the bankruptcy.
